In the beginning, God walked in the garden with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. Then one day Adam and Eve took of the fruit of the tree that God told them not to eat, so then sin entered the world. God told Adam and Eve that because of their sin, they would one day die. “For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return” (Genesis 3:19).
What is sin? Sin is the act of violating God’s will. It can also be viewed as anything that violates the ideal relationship between an individual and God. The Bible tells us in James 4:17, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” Sin separates us from the love of the Father.
Why must a person die? Romans 5:12 says, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Hebrews 9:27-And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Revelation 20:12-And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
How can a sinful man become clean before God? For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Jesus free gift of salvation justifies many from sin, if they call upon him. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Revelation 1:5 says, “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.”
