What Would Jesus Do

Many know the acronym WWJD, for what would Jesus do.  The phrase was a reminder of the Christian’s belief in a moral responsibility to act in a manner that would demonstrate the love of Jesus through their actions.  Many wore bracelets and necklaces with these letters.  Many have thought about what Jesus would do but they should think about what Jesus wants us to do.  This blog is dedicated into helping others learn about Christ, how to become closer to God and how to be a better Christian.  If one truly wants these things then their main focus, other than accepting Christ, should be living a life pleasing to the Heavenly Father.  So we know how Christ lived a sinless life, was loving, giving and helped others; so to answer this most important question is simply to live as Christ.

To live as Christ we should live like he would, if he was here today.  No we can’t live a sinless life, but we can show love, compassion and think of others more than ourselves.  Today I watched the new San Andreas film.  The Film is suppose to represent how things will be when a major earthquake hits California, Nevada, etc…  The movie was interesting and wasn’t too bad as far as filthiness goes.  I don’t think it showed the true nature of how people might act in tragedy.  One man pushed another man into the street, so he got swept away.  This same man seemed to care only for himself, when he left a teenage girl all alone in a parking garage.  Some men were stealing but I believe things will be much worse.

It is times like tragedy that shows a man’s true nature.  How one might act in trials and tribulations show his true heart.  Recently I went through the most trying time in my life and I questioned why.  Now I see how trials and tribulations show God your heart.  He wants to know who you choose.  Do you choose yourself and live for yourself, or do you choose Christ and live for Christ?  Time will certainly tell.  All I know that to live without Christ is a most miserable life; a life without hope, a life full of sorrow and fear.  If you don’t know Christ as your Lord and Savior I urge you to do so now.  You may not have a tomorrow; you may not live another day.  That might sound cliché but it is so true.  Death can happen at any time or at any hour.  It doesn’t matter how healthy you are.  Many healthy people die in tragedies.

Often when I pray, I ask the Lord to guide me and keep me on the straight and narrow path.  Don’t ever think you are above temptation or trial.  God trieth the hearts of his people (Psalm 7:9). I encourage you to seek God wholly and ask him to guide you in your Christian walk.  It will not always be easy, but your reward will be eternal, reserved in Heaven for you.  1 Peter 1:4 says, “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.”

Related Scripture:

Psalm 7:9-Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

Proverbs 17:3-The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.

Colossians 3:12-17-Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;  Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Trusting in the Lord

When you are at a low in your life and need help, you can depend upon God. Nothing happens in this life that God does not know about. Sometimes God allows things to happen to us or people we love so that we will come to him. The best place in God’s word to teach you about trusting in God is to read Hebrews Chapter 11. It is a chapter of faith. Hebrews 11:1-3 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  For by it the elders obtained a good report.  Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

No matter what trials that you have had to overcome, I can tell you others have overcome more. Read the book of Job. Job lost everything he had —covered with diseases. In the end, God restored to Job more than he had in the beginning because he trusted in him. Romans 5:1-5 says, Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us

If you are truly going to trust in God, you must walk by faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, For we walk by faith, not by sight: If you only have faith when everything is going right, than where is your faith? God gives us his Holy Spirit to comfort us and help us when we are troubled in this life. John 14:26,27 says, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Everything that happens to you in your life adds to the person you are. God prepares us to be witnesses to the world by helping us in our times of need. He builds to our faith through helping us overcome trials and tribulations. During that trial, you may feel that there is no hope; that you are all alone.  Trust me, God is with you; he said he would never leave you or forsake you.  Seek him out earnestly in prayer and he will help you overcome that time in your life.  God knows what you need before you pray, but is waiting on you to ask him. The more you pray, the closer you will be to God. I have learned that when something goes wrong, stop and pray. Prayer helps you to defeat anything, including Satan. To trust God, we must have faith. Faith is important for prayers to be answered. Believe that he is able to do all things and that he will help you willingly if only we would ask him to.

Once we hand our cares to Father completely, then he will perform his work —-his miracle. Sometime his will is not our will. Sometimes his will is to take his children home to be with him. We must trust that he cares about us and is able to perform all miracles and that he has a purpose for what he does. He knows what he is doing.

Christian Persecution

Tracy K's avatarGodly Witnesses For Christ

godly

There never has been a time like it is today where Christians are being persecuted for their beliefs. God tells us to be strong as a soldier of Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2:1-3). God warns us that whoever lives a godly life will suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:12). News all over the world talk about how Christians are bombed, shot, hung, beheaded for the name of Christ. We hear how Christians are blamed for hate crimes, blasphemy, apostasy and being intolerant to minorities.

Here are a few example of what is going on in the world today… A Christian man was arrested and fined for leading a worship service in his own home. A Christian Sudanese woman is sentenced to death after marrying a Christian man and refusing to convert to Islam. A Pastor was arrested for holding an anti-abortion sign. A hospital ordered a military veteran not to say…

Jesus Cares For You

jesus caresThere are so many people that are hurting; they are grieving lost ones, grieving their health condition, worried about their finances; they are in emotional turmoil.  Often people who are grieving and stressed are overlooked by others, because people don’t take time to stop and listen.  Sometimes people just needs someone to listen to them in order to feel cared about. There is one that will always be there for you and his name is Jesus.  You can call on him any time and he will be there.  You can ask him for any need you have and he will help you.

Sometimes it is stress that can bring a person to their knees and hinder their outlook on life.  They often become depressed, emotionally drained, suicidal, and their health deteriorates.  One thing that I have discovered is that knowing that someone cares about you, can help any problem or burden that you bear.  Well let me tell you that Jesus loves you and cares about you more than anyone.  He cares that you are upset and crying.  He loves you so much that he would give his life for you and he already has done it.  He gave his life for your sins on a cross.  Jesus loves you and wants to help you with your life.  He is just waiting on you to talk to him.

When a person is going through a mental roller coaster, it helps them to improve their outlook to have someone to talk to, someone that shows them empathy and compassion.  There is no greater example that a person can use to help someone is to show them the love of Christ for them.  Jesus showed love for all mankind, including the soldiers that came to take him to prison.  Remember Peter used a sword to cut off one of the soldier’s ears (Luke 22:50,51). Jesus healed his ear. He had compassion for those that were blind, deaf and lame and healed them (Matthew 14:14 & Matt 15:30).  He fed people that were hungry (Luke 9:13-16). When Jesus was on the cross, he said, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34).

If you are having a hard time in your life and feel that no one is there for you, God cares for you.  He cared enough for you to give his only son to die for your sins.  Jesus came to die for the sins of the whole world.  He loved you enough to stay on the cross when he was nailed to it.  So if you have a problem, conflict or strive- go to the Father in prayer.  Accept that Jesus died on the cross for you, ask forgiveness for your sins and he will forgive you.  He will help those that call upon him in prayer (Psalm 20:1-6).

1 Peter 5:7- Casting all your cares upon him, for he careth for you.

Psalm 20:1-6-

The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;

Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;

Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.

Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfill all thy counsel.

We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfill all thy petitions.

Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

Forgiveness Brings Peace

peace55It is easy to lay your head down at night when you are at peace. Living in fear of past sins can keep you up at night and strip that peace that gives you comfort.  If you have accepted the Lord Jesus as your Savior and Redeemer, you don’t have to fear. 1 John 4:9,10 says, “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”  If we have accepted God’s son, Jesus, we have forgiveness for our sins.  We don’t have to worry about God forgiveness because when God looks upon you, he sees the blood of Jesus.

Jesus blood was shed for you on a cross at Calvary. Leviticus 17:11 says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. ”  1 Corinthians 1:18 says, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

What would life be like without forgiveness? Forgiveness is the only thing that can restore broken relationships and allow healing to begin.  Forgiveness is one of the greatest virtues that man can possess.  With forgiveness, the broken can be fixed and the crooked can be made straight once again. Forgiveness is saying that we no longer hold the offense against the offender, and neither does God hold the sin against the believer in Christ. In this we can trust that if we confess our sins to God, he will forgive us of all sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Look What I’m Leaving Behind

Image result for rapture

Jesus my Lord is coming soon,
Look what I’m leaving behind.
Some things are sorrowful, some are not.
All matters cleared from my mind.
Cares no longer to worry,
Troubles are over and done,
No stress or tears any more,
because I’m going to be with God’s son.
Sins no longer remembered,
All my debt is wiped away,
No longer to remember,
Unkind words that people say.
No burdens to occupy my thoughts,
No time to concern over work or play
Death is swallowed up in victory,
Jesus has taken all fear away.
I care for those that will be left on earth,
Did someone give a warning or plea?
An urging to accept God’s son,
To turn from sin and from wrath to flee.
Some I love will be left behind,
Some neighbor, friend or classmate,
They have chosen to live in guilt,
If only they would have seen their fate.
If only I could have done much more,
If only I could change their mind.
To show them the love of Jesus
How he is so loving and kind.
Look what I’m leaving behind,
No debt of sin because Jesus paid it all,
His blood was shed on Calvary,
To atone for all that broke God’s law.

Overwhelming Love of Jesus

love5Recently I saw a video on Facebook where a duck was feeding fish by giving him food that was given to him.  I thought that it was kind of the duck to give his food, but did he realize that he was being good to the fish.  Then I thought how animals can show kindness in so many ways.  One time I was sad and my cat sensed me being sad; she came and jumped in my arms and tried to kiss me.  I thought about how God made these animals. I’m sure that he instilled a love within them, such as when a mother cat feeds her babies and cleans them when they’re dirty.

Then I thought, Was kindness similar to love?  So I looked up love in the Bible and found 1 Corinthians 13:4, it says: Charity suffereth long, and is kind….  To me this speaks volumes of what love is.  Love is showing kindness to others no matter what happens; no matter how much you suffer, no matter how much someone else might not show love to you.

Then I think of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.  He showed us an unconditional love, an overwhelming love.  Jesus love for mankind kept him on the cross.  He endured great suffering mocking, scourging, crucifixion because he cared for the soul of mankind.  When the soldiers came to get Jesus to try him, Jesus said that he could have called twelve legions of angels to protect him.  Matthew 26:53 says, “Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

If you don’t know the love of Jesus, I urge you to accept Jesus as Lord of your life and he will give you that love, because you become one of his children.  For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Other scripture:

Matthew 27:26- Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.  Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.  And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.   And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!  And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.  And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.  And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.  And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,  They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.  And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.  And sitting down they watched him there;  And set up over his head his accusation written, This Is Jesus The King Of The Jews.  Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.  And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,  And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.  Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,  He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.  He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

Sealed unto the Day of Redemption

sealedThis question has been asked multiple times by the believer in Christ.  Some have doubted that God seals your salvation unto death or the day of redemption.  The best way to show you that your salvation is preserved and kept by the power of God into the day you die, I will show you scriptures to prove it to you.  Remember don’t ever listen to someone tell you something about the Bible without having scriptures to back it up. A Christian, a believer in Christ, is sealed with the Holy Spirit.  Ephesians 1:13,14 says, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”

1 John 5:13 tells us, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”  To have eternal life; that is forever.  That is not a partial life until things get hard, but eternal life forever. “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6). “Who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:8).

Ephesians 4:30 says, ”  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”  If God puts a seal on something, trust me nothing can get through that seal.  Romans 8:35-38 says, ” Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Not even Satan himself can penetrate that love of God.  He might try but God is in control of everything.

Nothing we do can separate us from the Love of God.  When he sealed you, he sealed you unto the day of redemption.  Now if you sin and continue in that sin; then yes, the Lord may end your life.  He will not allow you to continue in sin.  God is a loving God and he gives us chances to repent and turn from sin.  If you refuse to turn from sin, then he might go ahead and bring you home.  I tell you that it is God’s grace that we are forgiven.  Nothing we can do will help us get into Heaven.  It is a gift from God when we receive his son, Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus says that whoever comes to him, he will not cast away.  John 6:35-39 says, “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.  But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not., All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.  For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.  And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.”

Jesus accomplished salvation to all men that believe when he was on the cross. “But He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:12, 14) If a person could lose their salvation, then Christ would have died in vain.  Jesus blood was a perfect sacrifice and is able to cover our sins forever.  Psalm 103:12 says, that he cast our sins as far as the east is from the west; so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

God said he would never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).  That means that if he never leaves us then he is always with us.  Sometimes we might have to go through a trial in our lives but it is to strengthen us and make us a stronger Christian.  1 Peter 1:7 says, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.”

Remember that the Christian’s preservation, security, and salvationo is not dependent upon himself, but upon God. It is good news that the Christian is kept by God’s love and power. That salvation is completely apart from the works and merits of the believer. Nowhere in the Bible is the Christian given the responsibility of keeping himself saved and maintaining, under penalty of loss, his salvation. Jesus and God is able to keep us unto the day of redemption. Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 6:3,4-Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 8:10,11-And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Ephesians 2:8,9- For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

A New Creature in Christ

Image result for strength

Sometimes we might go through things in this life that we do not understand.  We might have to go through a trial in our lives that is difficult to endure. We question why and sometimes we might not know the answer for a while, but I know that everything that God allows in our lives is for a reason.  God is creating in you a new creature; formed into his image.  2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

No matter what you are going through in your life, the Lord knows all; he sees all.  He is showing us through these trials that we must rely heavily on him for our strength.   For if we are a child of God, persecutions will come.  Jesus didn’t say might come, but will.  Some have already been arrested, imprisoned, lost their businesses and even their lives for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  2 Corinthians 4 tells us that all things that we go through will be for our own profit, because God is molding us into the image of his son.

David wrote about things he had to go through in his life; you can read about his trials in Psalms.  Psalm 18:2 says, “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”  He had to fight many battles in his life but he relied on the Lord to help him overcome them.  “For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me” (18:39).

We might not have to fight a physical battle of the flesh but a spiritual battle against those that are despisers of the Christian faith.  Many will hate you because you go to church or tell others about Jesus or simply stand for Christ.  There will be those that will accuse you falsely, saying all manner of evil against you, but Jesus said to rejoice, for your reward will be great.  Matthew 5:11,12 says, “ Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

Stand strong and allow God to mold you into a new creature in Christ; into the image of his son.  Romans 8:29 says, “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

Related Scriptures:

2 Corinthians 12:9- And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

1 Peter 5:10-But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Sowing the Word of God

Last night I heard a sermon about the parable of the sower.  I have heard this message before in the past but what was different about this message is that it spoke to me personally.  I have always looked at it as just sowing the word of God by witnessing but as I listened last night I realized it was for the Christian as well.  Let me explain.

Jesus said in Matthew 13:3-8, “Behold, a sower went forth to sow;  And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:  Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:  And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.  And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:  But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

Now the first part talks about how some fell by the way side and the fowls came and devoured it.  This talks about the word is preached but people don’t receive it and it doesn’t help them because they don’t take it in. Now he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and anon with joy receiveth it and perhaps he starts to go to church, but he doesn’t read the word of God for himself and then other things start to cloud his mind; such as a job or finances or others stresses and he quits the church.  Or perhaps he goes to church for a while but then he gets offended by someone at the church, or he doesn’t like the preacher, or feels convicted in his sin by the sermon and doesn’t want to turn from his sin, so he quits going.

The other part talks about he that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.  He might go to church his whole life but he allows things to come into his life that occupy his mind; and so he doesn’t do anything for God: such as witnessing or teaching a Sunday school class or sing in the church.

I believe a majority of Christians fall into this last category.  They allow their jobs or careers or education to interfere with their service for the Lord.  I know a person has to work for a living but it is when we devote all our time and attention on gaining riches and luxuries of this life, that is when we need to reevaluate what we are setting our affections on.  Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
