Building on A Strong Foundation

rock2 - Copy

What kind of foundation are building on? Are you working to increase your wealth upon this earth? Are you striving to obtain a high degree in college or a higher status on your job, or are you building upon the foundation of Christ? Lets look to what the word of God says about building upon a strong foundation.

Matthew 7:21-27: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Christ is the only foundation that you can build upon to get you to Heaven. 1 Corinthians 3:11 says, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” If you are trying to build wealth and riches upon this earth than you are building a foundation upon the sand. Start building your firm foundation upon the rock, which is Jesus Christ.

A man cannot work his way to Heaven. There is nothing we can do that would be good enough. Our righteousness is as filthy rags before the eyes of God. Giving to the poor, feeding the hungry are great things you can do but they will not get you to Heaven. You must first receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior and then you can build toward a strong foundation in Christ. You can receive riches in Heaven for the things you did on this earth such as giving to the poor but if you haven’t received Christ first, then you are not going to receive eternal life.

My hope is built on nothing less
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Jesus Our High Priest

Not one person on earth is clean and pure before God. We are all unclean and our righteousness is as filthy rags in the eyes of God (Isaiah 64:6). There is nothing hid that has not been manifested or revealed to God; but all things are naked and opened unto him (Hebrews 4:13). So I ask you “How can we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3) We can be redeemed and forgiven because of Jesus sacrifice on the cross. Romans 3:24,25 says, “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.”

If we believe in Christ, then we have a great high priest, that is passed into the Heavens which is Jesus the Son of God (Hebrews 4:14). “We have a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). For he is our mediator between us and God. 1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

Beginning at the time of the first Passover, a blood sacrifice had to be made to offer an atonement for sin (Exodus 12:27). Then as a part of God’s commandment, they had to eat unleavened bread for seven days. If they did not follow the Passover, then all the firstborn in the land of Egypt would die. Now we do not have to follow this ordinance because Jesus became our sacrifice (1 Corinthians 5:7).

Hebrews 9:11-14 says, “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

How Much Do You Believe

believeRecently I seen a movie called, “Heaven is For Real” and my eyes were opened to how much people believe in God.  Sadly I see some attending church, saying a quick prayer, singing in a choir, and then going on with their lives as if God isn’t present in their lives.  Belief is so much more than attending church once or twice a week; it should be incorporated into every minute, every second of your waking hours.  The definition of belief is: an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists; something one accepts as true or real; a firmly held opinion or conviction; trust, faith, or confidence in someone or something.

To have a true belief in God is to be in complete obedience to him, to have complete trust and faith that he exist and that he is in control of not a small part of our lives but in everything.  To have a true belief in God we must completely surrender to him as our Lord, Savior, Creator and Master.  If you truly believe that God exist and that he will take care of you then you must never doubt his love for you.  If you truly believe you would never doubt that he could handle things in your life that seem so big for you, because you would know that all things are merely minuscule to God.  Remember that God created the Heaven and the Earth.  Now take time to meditate on that.  God created everything that you see, that you hear, that you feel. How amazing!  He not only made everything but he can command the earth to move or the wind to blow. He can control the sea and the clouds.

Recently I was asked to prove God to someone that doesn’t believe and I have to ask, “Where did his belief fail?”  Did his parents ever teach him about God or did they believe?  Someone that truly believes in God would want their loved ones to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, because of their love for them.  They would dedicate their time to telling others that Jesus saves.

I must tell you that from an early age, I had some belief in God which is much smaller to what I believe in now.  My belief has grown a lot by the time that I have spent in prayer and studying God’s word, etc… If you want to have more faith and belief in God you must dedicate more time to him.  He will show you things that you would have never thought of.  He will show you things that can increase your faith and belief in him.  He can help you have so much faith that you don’t care what others say about you, because you know that God is there with you.  So my question is how much do you believe?

If you are wanting to have more faith and belief in God but need some questions answered, or you would like someone to pray for you, use our contact us page.  Increasing your faith and belief in God will help you in so many ways.  It can give you joy and peace that surpasses all understanding.  Trust me you will not be sorry you decided to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Giving Thanks This Season

happythanksgiving

Yes everyone enjoys holidays and spending time with family and friends but what is the importance of giving of thanks.  What is the big deal?  To answer this question, First I must take time to tell you that everything you have in this life was given to you freely.  Don’t think for a second that you earned anything.  You might work 70 hours a week or own some great business, or might even be a doctor that praises himself as highly esteemed.  Let me tell you that without the grace of God, you wouldn’t have anything.  You wouldn’t have life, oxygen, trees that make houses or water that you drink.  You wouldn’t have a brain to tell you what to do and how to act.  You would not exist without a God that made you.  He made you unique and functioning, which means that you are able to work and build and hunt for food.  You might think this sounds harsh but sometimes people need an eye opener.  Sometimes people need to be humbled and come to the truth.  Sometimes people need to bow their knees and thank a merciful God, and seek repentance from their own pride and feelings of self entitlement.

The Bible tells us: “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).  The Apostle Paul said in Acts 17:28- “For in him we live, and move, and have our being.”  He went on to teach the brethren at Colosse how to be thankful when he said, “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”  He knew that it was important to recognize that God gives us the right to be partaker of his inheritance, which is the kingdom of Jesus Christ. So give thanks to God this season for his love and mercy, and for the food he has given you.  He deserves all our honor and praise.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and I hope you have a safe and enjoyable holiday with your family and friends.  I have enjoyed talking with fellow believers in Christ. I hope I have helped you in some form or fashion.  I hope I have brought to you important information regarding salvation, love, forgiveness, bible lessons, end time news and such.  I write to you today to tell you how I have enjoyed spending time with you this last year.  I hope I have answered questions that maybe you were struggling with, or questions that you never thought to ask.  I want to thank each and everyone of you for taking time out of your busy day to read this blog.  I pray that you all have a personal relationship with the Father and his son Jesus Christ.  If not, it is not too late.  I urge you to accept Jesus now and repent from your sins.  I hope I have reached you on a personal level and I look forward to meeting you all in Heaven soon!  Happy Thanksgiving to my blog friends.

Getting Back to Our First Love

jesus2Many seem to forget that everything we do today should be for the honor and glory of our holy Father and his son Jesus Christ.  Do you remember when you received Christ as your Lord and Savior?  Do you remember the joy that you felt inside and the love you felt for him and for others.  Well we need to get back to our first love, Jesus.  Jesus should be our first love above all else.  We should give him all our honor and praise, which he richly deserves.

With things going on around us we seem to lose focus on what really matters in life.  What matter to you the most?  Does Jesus matter to you more than family, friends, wealth or riches?  Jesus said, “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:37).  What are you willing to do to prove your love for Christ?  Are you willing to walk alone, suffer persecution or even accept death to prove your love for Christ?  Jesus Christ should be the center of your world.  You should love Jesus first above all else, including your spouse.  Did I just say to love Christ above your husband or wife?  Yes, yes, yes!  Love Jesus Christ the most.  If he isn’t the one you give the most attention to, then you have neglected your first love.

If you haven’t experience Jesus Christ as your first love, then you haven’t experience true love.  I’m talking about a love that surpasses all understanding.  A love that you are willing to die for.  A love that brings you joy, peace, comfort and happiness.  A love like no other because he is like no other.  Jesus is the perfect son of God that was without sin!  He is perfect in stature, perfect in appearance, perfect in spirit, perfect in nature, perfect in character and perfect in love.  He had all the right qualities that we need to learn to possess.  He cared about mankind enough to lose his life.  He was humble and obedient to the Heavenly Father.  He had compassion on others and healed many that were sick.  He showed us what love truly means.  It doesn’t mean to care for someone for a minute and then go on with our lives without thinking about them again.  No Christ cares enough to continue caring, to continue loving us, despite our faults.  Jesus sits in Heaven on the right side of the Heavenly Father making intercessions for us, which means he is interceding on our behalf. He knows what sins you have committed in the past and he forgives you when you ask him to.  He died for the sins of the whole world, even for them that hates him.  Now that is love; Loving someone that doesn’t love you back!  He is willing to erase your sins because he paid the penalty for those sins, but you must accept him!

Now is the time to get back to your first love.  If you haven’t accepted Jesus, now is the time to do so. Repent from your sins, then Pray and ask him into your heart.  Jesus can be a friend to you like no other.  He can comfort you, protect you, love you and mediate on your behalf.  He can cast your sins away and you can become a new creature in him.  Now is the time to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior; do not delay!

Honoring Veterans this Veterans Day

flag1

Veterans Day-11-11-2014 should be a day that you set aside to honor those individuals who risked their lives for our country, while serving in the United States Armed Forces. May we all remember to thank those men and women this holiday and show them the respect they deserve.  These military heroes have given us our freedom and liberties that we hold so dearly.  My husband served in Saudi Arabia during “Desert Storm.” My father served in Vietnam during the “Vietnam War” and was wounded by stepping on a booby trap. All Veterans should be remembered and honored during this holiday set aside for those that served during a war time situation. These men have taken time away from family, missed the birth of their children, missed graduations and birthdays and risk their lives so that we could continue to have a country we love. All of our military should be honored and appreciated for upholding the constitution and the beliefs that made this country so great.

World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” – officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919.  However, an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. World War I was the war known as “the war to end all wars.”

On November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…” (VA.gov).

Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Stepping Out in Faith

peterwalking

Many know the story of the Apostle Peter how he stepped out of the Ship and walked on Water.  Many remember how he doubted and started to sink, when he saw the stormy waves surrounding him. Most don’t see that he stepped out in Faith when the others stayed in the ship.  My point is that we need more Christians who are willing to step out in Faith, and lead others to the Lord Jesus Christ. I didn’t say Peter didn’t sink, but Jesus was right there to pull him out of the stormy water.

You will not be perfect and live a perfect life, you will probably fall and have doubt, but Jesus will be there with you every step of the way.  Nothing happens in this life that God does not know about. Sometimes God allows things to happen to us or people we love so that we will come to him. Hebrews 13:5 says, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Matthew 14:22-31 says, “And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.  And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.  But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.  And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.  And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.  But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.  And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.  And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.  But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.  And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”

Should Christians Participate in Halloween

Halloween3

Should Christians Take part in celebrating Halloween.  The name “Halloween” comes from the All Saints Day celebration of the early Christian church, a day set aside for the solemn remembrance of the martyrs. All Hallows Eve, the evening before All Saints Day, began the time of remembrance. “All Hallows Eve” was eventually contracted to “Hallow-e’en,” which became “Halloween.” Maybe this is how it was started, but today it is not used to celebrate Christianity in any shape or fashion, but to the contrary.

Anything that confuses new converts could be considered a stumbling block to their faith.  A full participation in Halloween, with costumes and decorations that include the occult symbols is a very questionable stand for a Christian to take.  As Christians we should say our participation in Halloween aligns itself with (1Th 5:21-22) “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

May the Lord lead each of us to an understanding of what God’s will is.  Some Christians take this time to celebrate the fall season and use it for the purpose of witnessing to Children by passing out tracts and scriptural inspired candies, pencils, etc… This type of celebration is far better than the act of “trick or treating” or of parties celebrating Halloween with drinking and wearing costumes.  Christians should in no case participate in these activities!

In the past, I have participated in both types of celebrations.  When I was young we went out trick or treating until my dad told us that we wouldn’t participate in Halloween anymore.  At the time, I thought that was just awful.  I couldn’t understand why we couldn’t have fun with other kids, but he held strong to his belief.  He called Halloween a Pagan holiday and that we weren’t going to celebrate it anymore.   Then when I got older and had children of my own, I didn’t allow my kids to go trick or treating.  At first, it was because of the dangers of them getting hurt or someone poisoning the candy but we did allow our children to participate in church fall festivals so they wouldn’t feel left out.

My kids are much older now so I quit worrying about Halloween and Fall Festivals as much as I did; but the more I grow stronger to God, the more it bothers me.  I look at it this way.  If the holiday of Halloween wasn’t so bad, then why do so many people dress up in costumes about Witches, Vampires, Ghost.  I look at how some people decorate their yards with tombstones, witches, ghost, etc… I wonder why but realize that this Holiday is not one that is celebrated for God or Jesus, but quite the contrary.  At least Christmas and Easter has some meaning of Jesus in it and I am proud to honor him. There is nothing to honor Jesus in Halloween but glory to all forms of demonic forces.  During Halloween, there are Satanic masses, occult practices, witchcraft rituals, playing of pranks or tricks on others, visiting haunted houses, telling scary stories, and watching horror films which usually are released on Halloween.  These types of events only welcome demonic forces upon you or your house.  I urge you to take warning, these things should never be practiced. Ask yourself this question, would Jesus participate in these events!

I usually leave related links on my post but choose not to glorify those sites, but you can do your research on Google.com if you are not totally convinced.

Caring for the Brethren

goodsamaritan

Do you care for others the way Christ cares for you?  Today Christians are fighting a battle of spiritual warfare.  Satan is working overtime to deceive and oppress the believers in Christ. When we as Christians take our main focus off ourselves we defeat our enemy, and become more like Christ.  Christ wants us to love others more than ourselves; to care for the needs of others before our own needs.  Christians need to learn how to be humble because God hates pride.  Without humility it is impossible to love others the way they should be loved. We cannot love others because we care only for our own happiness and not the happiness of others. Pride can be a stumbling block to others if we use it to overpass someone else’s worth. Also, having pride makes it hard for a sinner to receive Jesus Christ.

A person who loves others will not gossip about them.  Spreading lies and rumors about someone else, can hurt that person mentally and hinder their spiritual walk.  Gossiping comes from Satan and is used to hurt someone’s testimony or affect their lives in a negative way. Often, it is done spitefully by someone and is viciously done to wrongfully slander someone in a mischievous way.  The Lord said he hates this: “A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren” (Proverbs 6:19).   Let everything you say be to the edification of others and not to spitefully harm someone else.  Be careful that you don’t allow Satan to convince you of something that is not true.

Jesus loved us so much that he died on a cross for us. He showed us what love was all about. He said to love your enemies.  Now that is a challenge!  Love my enemy!  Yes, we are to love those that hate us and despise us.  Jesus wants us to love someone enough to give them the gospel, no matter what they say about us, what they do to us, or how much they hate us.  We are not to hold grudges but to forgive others the way Christ forgave us.  One day Jesus will return and we should focus our attention on being like him.

One day we all as Christians will have to give account of the things we did on this earth whether they be good or bad.  Keeping this in mind, let us learn to love others and care for others above ourselves.  Let us learn to come together in unity and build a stronger bond with other believers in Christ.  Let us learn to be more like Christ and to be careful in the things we do or say.  Let us consider our actions and consider our speech before we take action.  “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Philippians 4:6).
