Pursuing the Work of the Ministry

Last night I met a man from Damascus and I was intrigued to learn more.   He was proud to say he was from there but had moved and lived in the United Arab Emirates before coming to America. Not many people know where the UAE is, but interesting enough I have seen it on CNN and it borders Saudi Arabia. Amazing how God reveals things to you.  This man was proud to be from Damascus, which is the capital of Syria and is known to some as the oldest city of the earth.  What is so interesting to me about Damascus is that it is mentioned in the Bible, where Paul was converted.

Paul, formerly known as Saul, was a Roman that was on his way to Damascus to find disciples of the Lord so that he could bound them in Jerusalem.  Jesus appeared into him in a bright light and asked him, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?”  Paul didn’t realize that what he was doing was against the son of God, Christ.  He went on to be a great apostle for the Lord and wrote several books of the Bible.

Paul told the saints at Philippi that he counted all things dung, that he might win Christ (Philippians 3:8). He said to forget about things of the past and move forward toward the prize of the high calling of Christ (3:13,14).  He didn’t care about riches or worldly possessions but his work for the ministry.  He endured great afflictions on his quest to pursue the work of the ministry, such as: he was beaten, thrown in prison, shipwrecked, stoned, without food or water, naked, etc…

Even though Paul endured a lot on this earth, he continued doing the work of the Lord.  He said, ” Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Definition-To Pursue: continue, advance or proceed along (a path, mission, route or course) without stopping;  To strive to gain; seek to attain or accomplish;  an effort to secure or attain; quest; to chase after with determination.

Willing to Walk Alone

How much do you love the Lord?  What are you willing to sacrifice for Jesus?  Are you willing to walk alone and stand up against those that are against him?  Are you willing to leave mother, father, brother for the cause of Christ?  Let me tell you a story about a man that was disowned by his own mother for believing in Jesus Christ.  William J Murray is a Baptist minister that decided that he would not follow the footsteps of his mother, for she was an atheist.  He went on to do things for Christ; currently serving as the chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition, a non-profit organization in Washington DC, active on issues related to aiding Christians in Islamic and Communist countries. His mother fought hard against religious freedom; She went as far as to stop prayers in schools.  If you don’t know his mother, her name will ring a bell.

Madalyn Murray O’Hair was an atheist activist; a founder of the American Atheists,  a non profit organization that fights for the civil liberties of atheists and advocates for the complete separation of church and state.  Ms. O’Hair later filed lawsuits to prevent prayers or reading the Bible in public, such as when Buzz Aldrin wanted to quote the Bible in the Apollo 11 mission. She was later kidnapped and murdered by a convicted felon that was out on parole, which was a former employee.

There is coming a day when your family, brethren, friends will betray you.  They will lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for believing in Jesus Christ (Luke 21:12).  Are you willing to walk alone, be persecuted and stand for things that are right?  It may seem as if you are all alone, but there is one mightier and greater than any man upon this earth.  The Lord Jesus said that he will never leave you or forsake you.  Keep doing the work of the ministry no matter who goes against you, because one day you will receive your reward in Heaven.

Jesus had to walk alone when he went to the cross, only the Heavenly Father was with him.  His disciples and his loved ones couldn’t help him.  He was despised and rejected of men (Isaiah 53:3).  Now Jesus stands on the right hand of the father and he will come again and call his children home to be with him for eternity in Heaven.

Defeating Spiritual Warfare

Whether you want to accept this or not, Christians are facing spiritual warfare and must know how to battle it.  After reading this great post from Settled in Heaven Ministries, I see the need to write to you about spiritual warfare.  The Bible is a powerful force that can help shield you from Satan’s snares. Satan and his demonic followers are out to deceive, confuse and harm true believers in Christ.  I realize that some may not like this post, due to the nature, but I am posting it because I see how necessary it is to know about it, especially today.  There is coming a day when all Christians will have to be able to fight off some form of demonic forces and I hope to equip you with the knowledge of how to do so.

You may ask yourself, what is a demonic force.  A demonic force is a force driven by Satan and his demons to oppress, snare and deceive anyone that is striving to live Godly.  This force can deceive men into believing in false prophets, antichrist, false religions, occult things; also confuse people into thinking evil is good and good is evil.  Examples are:

  1. They may think killing someone is alright because they do not believe the way they do.
  2. That drug abuse is okay when it is not.
  3. That sexual assault against another person is okay when it is not.
  4. That believing in the Antichrist or following after the Beast is okay, when it is wrong.
  5. That taking the mark of a man, or Beast is okay as long as they are feeding their family, when God speaks against this.
  6. That practicing witchcraft or occult things is okay when God speaks against these things.
  7. That being a homosexual is okay when it is listed as an abomination in the eyes of God.
  8. That telling people lies is okay when it is not.  Tell people what sin is and tell the truth about it.
  9. People will be deceived about false prophets.  Anyone that says that one doesn’t have to believe in Christ is a false prophet. Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven.
  10. People will be deceived into thinking that they can drink blood or make sacrifices to Satan is okay when it is not.
  11. People will be deceived into thinking that pornography, practicing occult things, and drug abuse are okay when they are not.

A Christian who believes on the name of Christ, and is not practicing evil, can ward off any demonic force by quoting scriptures or speaking boldly: “In the name of Jesus Christ, leave me alone.”  I know this works because I have used it a few times myself.  In Matthew 4:10, Jesus used: “Get thee behind me Satan.” Demons are real and they are used by Satan everyday.  Demons are invisible to most people but few have been able to see them, including myself.  Satan can change his appearance from looking like a regular man into a snake or other such thing.  The Bible says that he can transform himself into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).  I urge you to be careful what you do and who you listen to.  Read your Bible to help you decide what is evil and what is good. Do not follow just anyone’s advice but what the scriptures teaches you.

In John’s vision, we can see that a two-edged sword proceeded out of the mouth of our Lord.  What does this represent for us?    It shows us the powerful Word of God that is spoken by Christ.  This is clearly explained for us in Hebrews:

What are Christians Suppose to Do?

I am reblogging this post about Focusing on God’s Will for our Lives because we can often get off track with everything going on around us.  I have been praying lately to God asking him for guidance on what I need to do as a Christian right now.  I heard in my sleep, “What are you suppose to be doing?”  In my sleep I replied, Walk Justly, be meek, don’t sin, live godly or righteous.  I believe Jesus was letting me know that we as Christians have been taught what our responsibilities are and that we know what are job is.  Not only to live godly but to spread the news of Jesus Christ because his return is near.  Tell someone today that Jesus is Lord and that he will save anyone that calls upon his name in prayer.

So many distractions, so many things tie up our minds today but we should never stop trying to do the will of God.  To do the will of God, you must know what that is.  First in order to do the will of God, you must know what the Bible says.  John 7:17 says, “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”  Then, you need to be a child of God.  It doesn’t do any good to try to live a good life if you are not a child of God. John 9:31 says, “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.”  If you want to receive salvation, go to this link.

Prepared to Meet the Lord?

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  Have you prepared your mind and repented of your sins?  Are you seeking the Lord?  Have you turned from evil and sought things that are well pleasing in his sight.  We must put off all ungodliness and put on holiness.  Have you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior? I urge you to accept Jesus now, for you may not have another day to do so.

Many people continue in sin today without fear of God or fear of judgment.  God’s judgment will come one day.  God is the ultimate judge of the world.  He set laws and ordinances in order throughout his Bible, to teach us about the way we should live. Exodus 20 tells us about the ten commandments, but that is only the beginning.  He gives us instructions of what he considers good and what he considers bad.  We are not to lean to one side or the other, but to follow his laws of holiness.  We are not to compromise because the world does.  We are to live righteously and prepare to meet the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you remember the story of Esther the queen.  In order for her to meet King Ahaserus, she had to prepare herself with six months of oil and six months of sweet odors for the purification of women (Esther 2:12).  Just like Esther prepared to meet her king, we must prepare to meet our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He expects a purified bride, spotless and clean by his precious blood atonement. The redeemed or Christians are considered the bride of Christ.  See post: Marriage of the Lamb.

God tells us in Hebrews 12:14 that we should, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”  Not one person is without sin but with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross our sins can be covered by his blood.  Anyone can receive forgiveness from their sins, if they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  God does not give us a license to sin but tells us to turn from sin. Not only should we turn from sin but we are to be God’s servants of righteousness.  We are to spread the news of Jesus Christ and teach others that God expects righteousness.

Raising Children in the Lord

As a parent myself, I know of the struggles that come with parenthood.  Becoming a parent is one of the greatest joys a person can have but with parenthood comes much responsibility.  We must remember God before all things and teach our children about the Lord.  No matter what we do or say, it should be to the glory of the Lord. We should not lie or sugar-coat things but speak the truth plainly and without compromise. We must punish them when they do wrong because the Bible teaches us to do so.  Proverbs 19:18 says, “Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.”

Today parents are afraid of speaking the truth to their children because they are afraid they will get angry with them, and perhaps stop talking to them.  I agree that it is very difficult to tell our children the truth, especially if they live hundreds of miles a way.  My daughter lives with me but my son is in the military and has lived away from home for about three years now.  No matter how old he is, it is still my responsibility to teach him and instruct him in the ways of God.

The Bible gives us plenty of instructions regarding parenting but I will cover a couple at this time.  First, lets look at the story of the Prodigal son.  He rebelled and went away from his father, living a rebellious life.  His father didn’t go after him and plead with him to come home but let him go.  After the son ran out of money, he repented and came back to his father.  Read this post-the Prodigal son. 

Now lets look at the story of Eli the Priest.  Eli of Shiloh had two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, which knew not the Lord.  His sons did evil in the sight of the Lord and Eli knew about it.  When he was old, he went as far as to tell his sons that he knew what evil they were doing.  The story goes on to tells us that the sons died in battle and Eli the priest died too.  The story doesn’t mention how the Father taught them about the Lord or how he tried to raise them right.  The story mentions how Eli honored his sons above God.  See it is not enough just to tell your children they are sinning, when they are older.  We have a much greater responsibility to raise them right from their youth and teach them the way they should live. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 13:24- He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Ephesians 6:4-And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

If We don’t Forgive, We Walk in Darkness

There are so many times when I have fought against my own urge to hold grudges against others.  It is difficult to forgive others that have wronged us but we must forgive others.  Matthew 6:15 says, “But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”  God’s mercy is everlasting and unending but you must put off hate and all other forms of unrighteousness, such as: whispers, backbiters, unmerciful, despiteful, deceit, envy (Romans 1).

If you carry un-forgiveness in your heart, you carry evil in your life.  To be truly like the Lord God Almighty, we must learn to love others the way he loves us.  Your love needs to be unconditional and without them loving us back.  Jesus said cast all your cares upon him because he cares for us.  He knows how hard it is to live on this earth, and even though he was despised and rejected by men, crucified and spit on by men, he forgave them and loves them.  He is only waiting for us to come to him in repentance.

If you want to be like Christ, then you need to practice his characteristics.   Galatians 5:22,23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”  Try praying for these qualities and the Lord will help you.  1 John 2:11 says, “he that hateth his brother is in darkness.”  That isn’t a place you want to be!  You must have forgiveness in your heart.  Learn to love others that hate or despise you. When you do forgive someone, it gives you peace in your life.

The Sin of Licentiousness

Licentiousness makes you think you are free, when you are in bondage. It is a device of the Devil, whereby he deceives folks into thinking they are really free, when in fact – they are locked up by their own indulgence and vice, and doomed to eternal punishment in the absence of repentance.  Satan is deceiving people into believing that nothing they do is bad. Its an attitude; a rebellious, sinful attitude, a form of lasciviousness.

Satan is deceiving men into believing that nothing they do is wrong because God loves all men and wouldn’t cast punishment or judgment upon them.  Jesus teaches us in Mark 7:21-23, “ For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

Today rebellion is more common amongst those that claim they know God.  They have the attitude, “I believe in God so he will not punish me.  It doesn’t matter that I drink alcohol or sleep around because I know God will forgive me anyway.”  If you are one that thinks that he can live in this fashion and all will be forgiven, God says in 1 Corinthians 6:9,10  “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”  Don’t let Satan deceive you in believing a lie.  God expects his people to live holy and to be separate from the world.  Galatians 5:22,23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Jesus is Alive

I serve a risen Savior not a dead god. Today many are misled into serving a dead man and are dying for the name of Islam.  My God died on the cross for me and arose the third day; and now sits on the right hand of the Father. Jesus was crucified on the cross, buried and arose the third day for our sins. He became our sacrifice when he went to the cross.  After three days he arose from the grave. This proves that Jesus was God’s son.  He was seen of over five hundred men after his death and burial.  His disciples saw him ascend up into Heaven and his angels told his disciples that he would come again.

If we believe in Christ, then we have a great high priest, that is passed into the Heavens which is Jesus the Son of God (Hebrews 4:14). “We have a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). For he is our mediator between us and God. 1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

Jesus paid the penalty for our sin when he died in our place; so that whoever believes in him might have eternal life. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  Jesus told his disciples that he must go to the Father but one day he will return to receive us unto himself.  John 14:3 says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”  You must receive Jesus as your Savior or you will not be able to go to Heaven.  If you don’t serve Christ then you are not serving the God above.  Any other religion is false and will lead you into a Devil’s hell.

If you are ready to accept Jesus as your Savior then all you have to do is go to him in prayer. Please pray: Lord Jesus, I humbly come before you to ask for your forgiveness for my sins.  I believe you came to this earth, died and arose the third day.  I believe you died for the sins of the world including mine.  I ask you to be my Savior and come into my heart.  Please accept me into your family and make me your son.  In Jesus name I pray. Amen

A Time of Prayer

After reading some prayer request from some online friends, I thought I could do an open prayer for all those who have asked prayer for their loved ones and for other situations in their private lives. If you would like to add a prayer request, place it in the comments box below.  If you are not a child of God, I urge you to accept Christ now, or go to the link above- Salvation explained!

Heavenly Father,

I come to you on behalf of all these people online who are hurting, depressed, distressed or have other situations that have been difficult to handle.  I know you are the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; but not theirs only but ours too.  You have known us from our birth and have nurtured us here on this earth. We are forever thankful and grateful for serving a mighty God, such as you.  We know whom we have believed and are persuaded that nothing will separate us from your love.  We do not come to you for show but sincerely, to ask you to help us with our needs.  We know that whatever need we have, you are able to handle all problems because you are the creator, the master, the protector and the healer of all mankind.  We know that you are a real God, an alive God and there is no other like you.  You have so much love for mankind that we cannot fathom how much love that is.  To us it is un-measurable because we only see love from our standards.  We are in the flesh but you are spirit and you are truth.  We know that with you all the questions and answers of the universe rest.  We cannot comprehend sometimes why some things happen, but we know that all things work together for good, to them that love God, and to them that are called according to your purpose.  We sometimes question “why this” and “why that”, but that is not for us to question.  We know you are God and not us.  We know that your thoughts are much higher than our thoughts.  We hurt and sorrow for loved ones that have passed on, but you are in joy over those that come to you in death.  We cry over those who may be in great distress or sickness here, but we know that you have reasons for allowing suffering.  I imagine looking at one that is suffering, and realize it is to bring them back to you; or I might look at one who is having difficulty with paying their bills, but know you have a greater purpose, that we cannot see at the moment.  We want to ask you to watch over our country; there are many seeking to destroy it.  We know that many are threatening to bomb us, but we know that your protection will always be with your people.  We feel evil is all around us but we know that you are watching and guiding us toward a more perfect man.  Our fleshly nature tries to step in and fight evil but we must lay it all at your feet and trust in you.  It is the trust and the faith in you that will help us in these last days.  We see ourselves discouraged and weakened but you are working a mighty work in us to prepare us for the things to come.  We are weak but you are strong and you will help us to overcome anything that is placed in front of us.  We struggle in our daily lives to understand and to live a godly life, but we know that if we give you the reins, you will guide us in the right direction.  We pray for our lost loved ones, that you will bring those lost ones into your fold.  We honor and thank you for everything and we ask you to heal our nation, heal our sick, heal our minds ad heal our weaknesses.  We love you and want you to control our lives because you are God.  We devote our time and energy not for our reasons but for your reasoning, for your purpose, for your will.  Use us, for not our will, but for yours Lord.  We humbly ask these things!
