What is Heaven Like?

Golden gates labeled 'Pearl Gates' leading to a glowing golden city with a Tree of Life and River of Life nearby

Revelation 21 describes a beautiful city called new Jerusalem coming down from God. It will be a peaceful city where God will dwell with them (21:2). There will be no more crying or death or pain (21:4). We will have a foundation of flowing water to drink of (21:6). Angels will be there in the city and there will be a high mountain (21:10). The city will be bright and shining as a crystal does (21:11). It will have 12 gates to it made of pearls (21:21).

The city has twelve foundations; the length and breadth and height of it are equal (21:16). The wall was 144 cubits long (21:17). The wall was of Jasper- which can appear in a wide range of colors, including red, yellow, green, brown, and occasionally blue or purple, with patterns and swirls that make each stone unique. The city was pure gold as of looking like glass (21:21).

The Lord God Almighty and Jesus are there (21:22). The city had no need of the sun or moon to shine on it because God’s glory lit the city (21:23). There will be no night there and gates are not shut because it is always daytime (21:25). The city has a pure rive of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and the Lamb (22:1). In the middle of the street and on either side of the river, was a tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits and leaves were for the healing of the nations (22:2).

Revelations 22:14 says only those that follow his commandments will have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates of the city. Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Are you going to Heaven? Learn more!

About Tracy K

I am a born again believer who has taught Sunday School, Women's Meetings and written blogs and books for the purpose of the ministry. My sole purpose is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus, the son of God, died on a cross for the sins of the whole world. I believe he arose after three days and now sits on the right side of God in Heaven. I believe Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. Without Jesus, there is no remissions of sins:
