Hard to Say Goodbye

When we get through one trial it seems like another one comes our way. This last year has definitely had its trials. When we look around and see what others are facing, our troubles dont look so big any more.

Now that my husband and I have been through Covid, the rest of the family has caught it. Two of my sisters and one of their husbands have it. My daughter and grandson just got over the stomach flu. I noticed others are going through some sort of illness or another.

I wander when is all this suffering going to end. When is God going to end all of our heartaches and sicknesses. I guess I already know the answer. I know that the Lord Jesus is coming back soon. It is then that we will suffer no more.

The Bible tells in the book of Revelation that when we get to Heaven we will have no more pain. We will have no more crying, no more tears. The former life will be over and we will have a new life, a new body. There will be no more night, cause God will light the city.
God will freely give eternal life to those that believe in him. John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Our job as Christians should be to tell others about Jesus. Why? Jesus said I am the way, the truth, the life, no man may come to the Father but by him. Salvation is a free gift to anyone who believes in the Lord, but they must receive it. They must trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Accepting Christ means to worship him, serve him, trust him and love him. Loving Christ means to love others too. Doing our best to live our life for others and not just ourselves. See Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He sacrificed himself for others, So they could receive eternal life through him. Jesus didn’t remain in the grave. He arose victorious. He lives in Heaven. He sits on the throne, on the right side of the Father. We have only a short time on earth to make a difference.

My brother in law, Jerry recently passed away from Covid. He definitely made a mark on this world. He was a preacher, a pastor, a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. People liked him because he stood up for what was right. He left a godly legacy. I considered him my spiritual leader. I relied on him to give me answers, especially about what we were all going through with this pandemic, this trial in our lives. I guess I wanted to be more like him.

Jerry said not too long ago. “When I die dont mourn for me.. I know where I’m going.” He had confidence in his belief in Jesus Christ.. Jerry and I were a lot alike. We were both bold when it came to our beliefs and sometimes didn’t see eye to eye on some things.

He loved his family and never for got to show them how much they meant to him. He often encouraged me to keep the faith, and to study the scriptures. I never had the chance to thank him for his Godly leadership and guidance. He helped me when I was in a dark place in my life. He showed me the correct way to go, to live. He meant a lot to me and my family. I wish that I could have another day to talk to him, to thank them.

Laying your loved one to rest is one of the hardest things you’ll ever have to face. I didn’t feel like I would make it through the day. I prayed that the Lord Jesus would give me comfort and strength to make it . My heart hurt and his passing was a huge loss to my family. I grieve for our loss and my sister’s heartache and sadness that she faces.
Today in my hospital orientation class, we talked about grief. People go through different stages of grief. There is one thing that isn’t talked about is time.

You can never get back that time you had with your loved ones. You can never redo the times you share with others. You can never unsay things that shouldn’t be said. So make sure you tell others how much you care about them. Say things that are good not evil. Show them that you love them, because when they die, you will never get that time back. You will regret those lost moments. Moments you should have said you were sorry. Moments you should have asked for forgiveness. Moments that you told them how much they mean to you.

I know time goes on. Life goes on and we have to try to live our lives without the sorrow and regrets. This time used to be the happiest time of our lives. I know Christmas will never be the same again with his passing so close to it. I thought I was over it. I will start to cry when I least expect to. I was in class and saw a picture of a Kennedy wound (wound that appears on someone in their last stages of life). Out of nowhere it hit me hard. I guess the thought of someone dying, it hit closer to home this time.

As a nurse, I’ve been around plenty of people in their last stages of life. I’ve had to call the family in to say their last goodbyes but sorry to say it starts to become part of the job. Of course I feel compassion for their loss and try to show them some love. I offer words of comfort to try to help ease their pain. It is usually easier when they are Christians. They find comfort in knowing that their loved one is going to a better place. They will spend eternity with Jesus Christ and they will see them again one day.

You Can Rely on Jesus

It is so easy to fear death when you think you have cancer or some other illness that usually doesn’t have a good outcome. As a nurse, I’ve taken care of people who were dying or diagnosed with a life changing prognosis. It was heartbreaking, but some gave me a happy heart, they inspired me because they didn’t have any fear. They were ready to face whatever God had in store for them, whether death or devine healing. I’ve sat there trying to encourage them with comforting words, but they lift me up instead with their faith.
Now I stand and wait for results that might change my life. Test will soon reveal whether I have thyroid cancer and/or something else. My doctor sent me for an ultrasound and it showed nodules on my thyroid, which could be cancerous.

When I was told I would have to go for a biopsy, I could barely sleep. Its hard to focus on anything else, my mind keeps going back to thoughts of my death. I know it sounds morbid but I’m sure others feel the same way when they find out terrible news about their health.
You start to analyze your life, what you did in your past. Could I have made better choices. Life is a vapor. Cherish it!

I wish I could go back and undo some things I did. I wish I could have lived a better life as a Christian. I miss the times when my kids were little. We would go shopping together, go on vacations, have holidays together. Time is special, I miss those precious moments. My husband, Chris and I were talking about the struggles we’ve faced together. We’ve been married for 30 years. We’ve had good times, bad times, and times to remember. Life wouldn’t be the same without each other. I know I love him more today than I did when we first got together. He has been someone I can rely on, someone that has helped me in my darkest hours of my life.

But, Chris can’t always be with me. There is one that has always been there. Jesus has comforted me when noone else could. See he knows everything about me. He knows my thoughts, my secrets, my fears. He has given me the peace to go on in my life. He’s forgiven me for my sins. Loved me when I was unlovable. He has strengthened me when I was weak. Healed me when I was sick. And listened to me when I needed a friend.
If you dont know Jesus, you dont know true peace or love. He can give you a happiness that you have never known. He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. He is someone we can always rely on. He has never let me down because he loves me despite my sins, insecurities, failures.

Poem: The Wedding

The Wedding Day is quickly approaching,
To Celebrate a new bride and groom.
Invitations have been sent out,
Free to attend with plenty of room.

The stage is set with decorations and flowers,
Many new faces and people to meet.
Many are dressed in their very best.
Food is prepared and ready to eat.

Harps and organ music fills the air.
Preparations are already underway,
For the wedding of God’s son.
A Heavenly atmosphere fills the day.

Hearts are ready and prepared!
Peace and Love is in the Air.
Smiles and laughter can be heard.
Wedding party in formal wear.

The groom has comforted his bride in time of sorrow,
He has embraced her and shared her tears,
For he has spent many days by her side,
Helping her through her trials and fears.

The Wedding is drawing close.
The Groom is waiting patiently on his bride.
Rings have been chosen for each hand.
They will live eternally by God’s side.

A union of love that will never end.
A kingdom with streets of pure gold.
With Jesus our Lord and forever friend.
Happiness forever, never growing old.

Pearl of Great Price

Matthew 13:45-46 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a merchant seeking goodly pearls: and having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

This phrase and scripture has always been a favorite of mine. Not only is the church considered the pearl of great price, the born again believer is too.

Have you ever considered the pearl, how special it is; how it is rare, distinct and valuable. The pearl comes in all colors and sizes. They have imperfections and are made within the soft tissue of a living mollusk. A pearl is composed of calcium formed from sand particles and other impurities that slip in. The ideal pearl is perfectly round and smooth, but many other shapes, can occur. The finest quality of natural pearls have been highly valued and beautiful. It usually takes two to seven years to form.

Just like the pearl, a Christian has been molded and sculpted by God’s hands. We go through the trials of this life and God takes all of our imperfections and creates in us a better person, See we will never reach that perfection till we are one day with our creator.

As long as we live in the flesh, we have a sin nature that fails. But one day God will give us a new body and a clean uncorrupted heart. When we receive Christ as our Savior, we receive the Holy Spirit that teaches us how to become more like Christ. To God, we are a pearl of great price because when God sees us, he sees Jesus. Our sins are covered under the blood sacrifice of Christ.

Living for Others

Life is not just about is!
People go through Depression!
It’s a real thing. There could be someone going through something that they haven’t shared with us! We should focus on being more observant, having more compassion for the needs of others.

Today people look at how they can have better lives. They look at how they were wronged. How they were treated unfairly. Sometimes we look at only our struggles. We think about me, myself and I. Instead of who we should focus on. She, He, or them.

Today people are going through a lot. We just came through a pandemic that we’ve never experienced before. People are and were afraid. They didn’t know what to expect. They didn’t know what tomorrow held. People were separated from their loved ones. People went into hospitals without their loved ones and many died. Faith was tested! Now we are coming through the pandemic but many are facing other trials, crises, hardships, health issues, emotional issues and problems. Satan is attracting us on every level.

Today we need to help are neighbors. Be more supportive, caring. When we make it through our trial, than we ought to be able to help someone else make it through theirs.

  1. call them and listen, some times the best thing is to listen. Show them that you care.
  2. Visit someone if you know they have been sick
  3. Offer your help if you can.
  4. Be a friend.
  5. Pray for one another.

  6. We are family. our family isn’t just our mother, brother, kids. Family is our church, our neighbor, our coworkers, the homeless man, the beggar, the sick. But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. – 1 John 3:17, 18. Luke 12: 22-30- And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. – Luke 12:22-30

Enduring the Pain

cares2

If you have ever experienced pain, it is hard to endure. The stronger the pain the harder to endure, BUT, the stronger you become and are able to endure more. The same thing applies to enduring trials in our lives (pain). Yes, sometimes things in life are hard as pain to endure. Have you ever noticed a older couple goes into surgery with less anxiety than a younger person, because they have learned to endure their situation. If you are struggling with health issues that life has thrown you, at the time, they are not pleasant. I have been dealing with my own health problems. One issues is resolved, another one comes. I had to ask, “Why Lord?” I wondered if it was something that I had done wrong. Why was I going through this trial? Sometimes in life, trials are not caused from things we have done, but it is to make us stronger. Sometimes it is God’s way of getting our attention. Ask yourself this? Is there something that I have done or am doing, that I need to change or get rid of.

Sometimes pain doesn’t last a day but several days. Sometimes our trials last a while. At the time of our trial, we don’t like it one bit. It is hard to endure. We wonder why am I going through all of this. My sister, my friend, my coworker isn’t going through what I am. We look around at others and think, Does God still care about me? We need to look at God’s word for his guidance and assurance that he does care. 1 Peter 5:7 says: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Trials not only come to us, but to others. They come to every man in every size and shape. It is what the Christian man endures to make him more Christlike. This might seem like a crazy thought, but even Christ died on the cross. He endured much for us. Job was a godly man and lost much; his children, cattle and had health issues as well. James 5:11 says: Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. But, Job was given much after his trial was over, because he did not curse God, like his wife and friends said to do. He held on to his Love for God and said, Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Which simply means, whatever happens to him, he still will trust in God. He still will hold to his beliefs and maintain his character and his ways before God.

What does Easter mean to Me?

Tracy K's avatarTracy's Writing Commentary

Hello everyone. Today I am going to do something different. I usually post about writing, marketing, editing and so on but today this post is dedicated to Easter. I challenge everyone to take a close look at what Easter is all about. Easter is recognized all over the world but is usually celebrated by Christians. Easter marks a celebratory time because it marks the date Christ rose from the grave. It is usually the time when Christians will make an extra effort in attending church. Easter is celebrated because of the miraculous resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion. Some people have made up fables telling children about the Easter bunny and decorating eggs. In Western cultures, Christians celebrate a period of 40 days prior to Easter called Lent. This is when they go through a time of discipline, fasting and repentance.

Easter is a time of reflection on what…

Do You Believe Jesus Is the Christ?

jesusjesus

According to the Scriptures, you must believe on Jesus Christ in order to go to Heaven. There is no other way into Heaven or no other way to receive eternal life.

1 John 5:1-15-Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

If you don’t know how to receive Jesus as your Lord, here is more information.

Learn To Love One Another

So many things has happened in the last few months that breaks my heart to see. The Lord tells us to love one another. If we truly loved one another, there wouldn’t be things happening in the world that are unrighteous. Lately I have seen things on social media sites where people are rioting, fighting against one another, cursing one another, killing, stealing, etc…. As a Christian, we need to learn to truly love one another. Learn compassion, learn to forgive others of their trespasses against us.

God tells us in 1 John 4:7-17-Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.  No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.  Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.  And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.  Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.  And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

If you can’t love your brother who you can see, how can you love God, whom you haven’t seen. 1 John 2:9-11-He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.  He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. 1John 4:20-If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Love goes a long way. It isn’t just showing kindness but helping others in need. If you can, give to others that are in need. If you don’t have money to give, give your time. Take someone to the store or doctor appointment if they need a ride. 1 John 3:17-But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
